I'm trying to compile chai3d with CMake (3.4.1) and MinGW (4.9.2 32-bit) on a Window 7 64-bit machine. However the compilation failed at 50%, with the following error:

C:\Users\yuhang\Desktop\chai3d-3.0.0\external\openal\Alc\ALc.c:750: error: #error "No static initialization available on this platform!"
#error "No static initialization available on this platform!"

What should I do to solve this problem?

Thanks for pointing this out. We have not tested CHAI3D with MinGW yet, but we will give it a try. I'll post back when I have more details.

CHAI3D supports CMake and MinGW on Windows since version 3.1.0. Please note that you will need MinGW-w64 (a drop in replacement of MinGW) in order to build CHAI3D (for both 32-bit and 64-bit arch), as the original MinGW runs out of memory during the build.

After installing MinGW-w64 , you should run the following commands in a DOS prompt to build CHAI3D using CMake and MinGW:

  cd path\to\chai3d
  mkdir build-mingw
  cd build-mingw
  cmake -G "MinGW Makefiles" ..
  mingw32-make

  cd path\to\chai3d\modules\GEL
  mkdir build-mingw
  cd build-mingw
  cmake -G "MinGW Makefiles" ..
  mingw32-make
